Heroes for Hospice Poker Run

The first annual Heroes for Hospice poker run is scheduled to commence on September 9. A poker run involves players putting up an entry fee to participate, which typically goes to support an organization like a charity. The players then follow a predetermined route, typically on motorcycles, and collect playing cards at various points along the way. The person with the best poker hand is the winner, with other consolation prizes often being passed out for the worst hand, etc. Lynnco Properties has put up the cash prize to entice participants, who will be playing to benefit Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley. The cost to participate is $20 for the first hand, which includes dinner, and $10 for the second hand, which does not.
