In Australia Russell Crowe wanted to ban poker machines, along with a few others, but his efforts have come back a losing hand, thanks to the votes of the South Sydney Leagues club. The club held a vote to see if banning poker machines was the right thing to do, but only three members out of more than one hundred voted in the affirmative. The rest were happy to leave things as they are. Essentially the board of the club figured they can’t offer their members the things they are used to without the poker machines providing a source of income.
