World Series of Poker to Remain Open to Everyone

By launchpoker, Aug 12, 2006

Many professional poker players would like to see the ranks of the World Series of Poker closed to the general public. In the early 70's and 80's the World Series of Poker was certainly the biggest game in town. It was here the professionals could count on coming to earn their keep, and a living, by taking on other professionals and earning some of the biggest prizes in the world. While it's still true that fortunes can be made at the WSOP, professional poker players are having a harder time being the ones making it. With its open door policy, the World Series of Poker will give chips and a chair to anyone who can afford the buy ins - and some of them are quite low. Harrah's Entertainment, the owners of the World Series of Poker, has said, however, that they intend on keeping the open-door policy of the WSOP in effect, keeping the dream alive for amateur poker players everywhere.
