2006 WSOP: Six Weeks of the WSOP Have Ended

By launchpoker, Aug 11, 2006

Is the biggest and longest-running poker tournament in the world and it has just come to close after a six-week run at the Rio All-Suite Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. 45 separate events were played in a variety of poker games including Omaha, Razz, and Texas Holdem, with emphasis on what is called the Cadillac of Poker, the ever popular No Limit Texas Holdem. New this year was a favorite of the poker professionals, the H.O.R.S.E. event, which posted the largest buying in at $50,000 and required that its players were the experts in six different varieties of poker. 45 championship bracelets were handed out, and millions upon millions of dollars in cash prizes. Amateurs and pros alike suffered the agony of defeat and, for lucky few, the thrill of victory. The poker industry in the Las Vegas strip area alike benefited from the 37th annual World Series of Poker, and will look to do the same next year.
