During last year's 36th annual World Series of Poker, much of the attention was on a three-way race for record-setting tenth World Series of Poker bracelet between legendary Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, and Phil Hellmuth. The man who wanted the most, Hellmuth, was the only one not to hit his 10th bracelet that year, a problem that Hellmuth rectified during this year's 37th annual World Series of Poker. Despite the looming final table of the Main Event and all the preparations going on in the same room, many eyes were on Hellmuth as he fought to set a new record by acquiring an 11th bracelet. It was the last event of the 2006 WSOP season, but it wasn't to happen for Hellmuth, who finished in Event 45 in third place, taking home a little over $50,000 for his efforts.
