Online Poker Software Shows Profit for Company

Online entertainment software company Giga Media Ltd. said on Tuesday that its second-quarter profit jumped by more than eight times leaning mostly on the strength of its poker software products. Giga Media's quarterly earnings increased from $1.2 million, or two cents per share last year to $11.2 million, or $.22 per share this year. From the same period a year ago revenue nearly doubled from $10.9 million to $21 million. These results also included $87.7 million increase in net income resulted from the sale of the company's Internet service provider business. It shows that Giga Media, which is based in Taiwan, has impressive gains this year.
