2006 WSOP: WSOP Drops Pros Left and Right

By launchpoker, Aug 3, 2006

Poker fans the world over are beginning to wonder if there will be any professional poker players left on August 10 battling it out for the biggest poker prizes in the land, not to mention an estimated $12 million for the first prize finisher. If poker fans are worried about their favorites being eliminated early on in the Main Event, players such as David Williams, Phil Hellmuth, Men "The Master" Nguyen, Mike Caro and Phil Gordon, then the executives at ESPN has to be having fits. Without major "star" power the concern is that there will be less people drawn to the televised events. It remains to be seen, however, because poker is known for being one of those games where the "little guy" can make it big, and nothing draws more audiences than a good underdog story.
