Humans Beat Poker Computer

This wasn't the first time Phil Laak was asked to represent the human race in a poker competition, and it probably won't be the last. This was the first time, however, that he nearly lost. The computer program Polaris, which is actually ten poker playing programs in one, was defeated over two days by Laak and partner Ali Eslami. The first day Polaris was up one match and there was one draw, but on day two both Phil and Ali won their matches, putting the final score as Humans 2, Computers 1. Researchers have heralded this process as great strides in the study of Artificial Intelligence.
