Poker Comes Under Fire in Germany

Since the beginning of the year the German Interstate Lottery Treaty has been in force, which makes privately run online poker sites illegal in the European country. Only poker rooms under the German Federal State are illegal. This has brought about an attempt to redefine poker from a game of chance to a game of skill in order to circumvent the new law. Poker players in other countries, such as the United States, are familiar with this argument. If poker could be classified as a game of skill, it would no longer fall under the Lottery Treaty.
