2006 WSOP: WSOP Shootout Event Starts Today

By launchpoker, Jul 16, 2006

The Shootout events are always looked forward to during the World Series of Poker, as they offer a break from the standard multi-table freezeout format most often used here. Normally a tournament continues uninterrupted as poker players bust out, with periodic reshuffling of players to new tables to keep them full. In a shootout, such as the one that beings today with Event 25, each table will have a winner, and then those winners will be reseated at new tables. This pattern will repeat until a final table is selected, and the final battle begun.

This style of play can often throw off pros, who play so often in the standard format that their pacing is interfered with. It will definitely be an interesting event to watch.
