Seven people were charged by authorities on Thursday as a result of a series of raids in June, wrapping up a four month long investigation into the illegal video gambling market. NC Alcohol Law Enforcement agents raided seven business on June 29 and one residence, collecting a dozen of the illegal machines. Buncombe County sheriff's deputies participated in the raid, seizing $25k in cash. Those charged on Thursday range in age from 33 to 66 and were all charged with gambling and operating or owning an illegal poker machine. All suspects were released on their own recognizance.
