Poker Playinig Computers Find Game Tougher Than Chess

Computer programs have long been used to both teach and provide competition for one of the most challenging and popular board games in history, chess. With the growth of poker's popularity, computer programers naturally looked for their machines to provide assistance in learning and playing the game. In creating and compairing poker playing software to chess playing software, programmers discovered something interesting, that the computer has a harder time mastering poker than chess. One reason for the difficulty is the number of possible combinations of cards and bets that the computer has to deal with in each game. For example, with just two players in a game, there are a quintillion possible cominiations: that is the number one with eighteen zeros after it.
