WSOP Falls Short of Record Attendance

For the first time in years the World Series of Poker main event has not increased in attendance over the year before, now that the final numbers are in. With attendance hovering around 1,500 each of the four Day One days, estimates are in at around 6,000 for the event, compared to a capacity of 12,000 that Harrah's was prepared for, and the actual numbers of 8,773 from last year. With the WSOP not accepting online registration from poker rooms that allow US players, many of the players that won WSOP packages this year were pocketing the money, which is one reason attendance has fallen.
