Poker Sites Face Taxation in Sweden

According to a local paper poker sites and their affiliates will be the target of tax evasion charges by Skatteverket in Sweden. A two step process is being implemented, first to tax the owners of such sites and then to prosecute them for tax evasion, according to reports. The national project leader for the tax board Internt Unit, Dag Hardyson, pointed out that they are not targeting the poker playing individual, but rather the companies that make money by referring players to online poker sites, and the sites themselves. Sweden's tax board estimates that there are millions of kroners not being declared by the poker sites.
