In Las Vegas, especially these days, one would think a person trained as a poker dealer could write their own meal ticket. As it turns out, the law of supply and demand had begun to enforce the other side of the coin, after first creating a demand for poker dealers to fill the growing need in the wake of Texas Hold 'em's popularity. MGM Grand was one of the first of many places to open up Dealer Schools, places where the hopefull could learn how to sling cards without flipping them over, drag the pot of chips, and keep a sharp eye out for string bets. Now the job market in Vegas is not what it used to be, and poker dealers without a regular gig are hitting the tables themselves as a way to supplement their income.
