While it isn't technically a record setting year in terms of main event attendance, this year's World Series of Poker is still doing better than last year. In 2006, the record was set with over 8,700 players paying $10,000 to play in the main event, but last year that number dropped by quite a bit. This year the numbers are up again, with 6,844 players taking a shot, developing a prize pool with a first place prize of $9.4 million. The pros are feeling good about winning the main event this year thanks to their great record in preliminary events and the longer play levels this year.
