2006 WSOP: Lucky Number 13 Begins Today at WSOP

Not all poker players are superstitious, but enough hold on to horseshoes, rub rabbit's feet, and wear the same pair of socks they wore during their last big game to qualify. Today, while it is Friday, it isn't the 13th, but the 13th event at the World Series of Poker is kicking off at noon, and it will be interesting to see how many players stay away. Event 13 is the $2,500 No-Limit Hold 'em tournament, the fifth No-Limit event so far (counting open and full handed events only) with plenty more to come, including the Big One, a $10,000 Main Event that promises to draw around 8,000 players and offer a first prize approaching $10,000,000. While any player who wins the Main Event will have to be lucky, whoever wins Event 13 may seem to be even more so.
