WSOP Main Event Starts Today

The 55th Event of the 38th World Series of Poker will begin today, starting eleven days of poker that will determine who is the nextworld champion, and create not a few new millionaires. Last year'sevent paid $12 million to the winner, Jamie Gold, and this year's event is projected to be at least as high. Extra days were recently added to the schedule to handle the projected swarm of poker players, which is currently around nine to twelve thousand. Last year's record breaking field was just over 8,700. The event will see most celebrated poker pros as well as thousands of internet qualifiers and amateurs. The final table is scheduled for July 17th, and players will enjoy only one day off - on July 16th.
