2006 WSOP: Pros Try to Minimize Mistakes at WSOP

By launchpoker, Jul 6, 2006

Poker is about a lot of things, but one thing in particular most players can agree on is that poker is about minimizing mistakes. When a player at a poker table makes a mistake, someone else at the table benefits in the same proportion. If a player makes a small mistake, someone will see a small gain; if it is a big mistake, one person may be eliminated and one may become the leader. At the 2006 World Series of Poker pros and amateurs alike are trying hard to both minimize their own mistakes and induce mistakes in others.

One such player, Minh Nguyen, may have made a big mistake very early on in Event 10 when he evolved his hand into quad nines. A hand like this, only beatable by a straight flush, should be used to take down big money, but Nguyen was only able to profit $200 from the quads.
