In Montego Bay, St. James, the Jamaica Tourist Board will be deciding in the next few weeks if it will play a more decisive role in a poker tournament being planned by part of Montego Bay's business community. Businessman Gary Dyer will be promoting the event through the company he owns, Great Events Management, and expects that the inaugural event will bring fresh tourist blood into an area that is typically quiet before the mainstream tourism season begins in winter. More important than any money that could be made from the event is the buzz the event would create about Jamaica. Parts of the preparation involved for such an event would be installing air conditioning and enclosing the planned event space, which would be on top of the Wexford hotel.
