2006 WSOP: $5k WSOP Event on Independence Day

While most Americans are out buying fireworks and firing up the grill, thousands are taking part in another great American pastime: playing poker. Not only playing poker, but playing at the World Series of Poker, where today Event 9 kicks off at Noon. This event is one of the largest of the series, with a $5,000 buy in playing the Cadillac of poker games, No-Limit Hold 'em. This event will run for three days, with the final table of nine players providing all the action for spectators and the ESPN film crews on day three. With such a huge buy in the Rio, where the WSOP is being held, will be abuzz with rumors of how large the prize pool will grow.
