A prize pool of over three million dollars was accumulated for Event #44, a $1,000 No Limit Texas Holdem event, which breaks the World Series of Poker record for prize pools in this event. The $3.2 million prize pool came from the 879 players, 81 of which finished "in the money" meaning they won a cash prize. The event topped the mark because it was a rebuy tournament, which means that for a limited time players who bust out can buy back in to the event for another $1,000. Max Greenwood, a 23 year old college graduate from Toronto, Canada is the winner. He won $693,444 for first place.
