Wrapping up in May of this year, after a late 2005 start in December, the first Annual Wood City Poker League and Banquet season brought success to the eight area bars participating. Sixty players in the league all took part in the event and plenty of prizes and appreciation for excellent play were handed out during the course of the season. The top winner of the league was Corey Peterson representing the Rendezvous Bar, beating out Lumberjack Lounge's Joe Lundberg by a single point. Third place was taken by Scott Zimmerman from the Northeaster Bar.
The best overall team was awarded to the Third Base Bar, and Doug Steen from Lost Tavern took an award for most points by a sub player. The top winner Peterson will receive an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker, which began this last Sunday.
