2006 WSOP: WSOP Begins Today

For the poker fans of the world the last 12 months were likely spent in an odd kind of limbo, one where they waffled between seeking out the maximum poker thrills and anticipating the start of the next World Series of Poker. Today is the day the wait is over, although there is one more day to wait for Event number one. The WSOP officially kicks off today with the Super Satellites, poker events players can partake in at the Rio in hopes to win a seat to the Main Event, a last minute effort to save themselves ten grand.The series will stretch out for about six weeks, culminating in a final event that itself will last around ten days and end with the biggest payout in poker history, estimated around ten million dollars.
