Charities and gambling go back a long ways; just ask your grandmother about bingo games at church for an idea. In California charity organizers are seeking more liberal permissions from lawmakers in order to move forward with poker themed fundraising events in order to capitalize on the still-hotly burning fever of poker. While one would think that the poker industry would be behind these efforts, it is in fact many of the more powerful poker rooms that are pushing to keep the tough regulations in effect.Rather than share the profits that pour into the casinos, these businesses would like to keep it tough for charities to run Texas Hold 'em events for whatever reasons, charity or not.
