The UK Poker Clubs Association (UKPCA) is prepared to go to war over an unsuccessful legal challenge by the British Casino Association recently, filing suit against the government's upcoming legislation. The new Gambling Act, primed to begin this September, may force poker clubs out of business according to the UKPCA, which represents 720,000 poker players in the UK, as well as 13 clubs. The legislation hinders poker clubs from making money according to the UKPCA, which launched a High Court challenge on the matter. The all sides of the issue will be heard by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) making a final decision in July.
