Is the WSOP the Wimbledon of Poker?

According to World Series of Poker guy Jeffery Pollack, the singular goal of the branding efforts of poker's first and foremost pro level circuit is to become equated with Wimbledon. While it may seem more lofty to attempt to equate the WSOP with something like the NFL or the NBA, that may be beyond the reach of poker, even with its current white-hot popularity. But when you think of tennis, you think of a strong, dedicated community of passionate players and fans, and Wimbledon is the top of the heap when it comes to tennis events.While it could be argued that the WSOP already enjoys its distinction in the poker world, there are plenty of competitors trying to muscle in on their market share, such as the WPT and others.
