Poker's Spectator Sport Elevates With Stars

It would likely have come as a shock to the poker players of old to hear that their favorite game has become a spectator sport, but there is no doubt that it has. All one has to do is catch a show of the World Poker Tour or Celebrity Poker Showdown to see that. One question that still seems puzzling to many is why people would want to watch the sport on location, live: at least on the TV shows you can see what the players have. One answer, at least when it comes to events like the recent Head to Hollywood benefit, is celebrity.



People love to watch celebrities do anything, and when stars such as Carmen Electra sit down, they watch all the harder. Electra hosted an event filled with A-list Hollywood types at the Hard Rock casino to benefit the charity organization Head to Hollywood, and the event was a success.
