According to the Herald Sun two big operators are struggling to control the state gaming industry, with potential revenues and profits in the billions. The poker machine operator Tabcorp and rival Tatts are the players in this high stakes game. The Community Clubs Association of Victoria was recently registered and is said to have ties to Tabcorp and Tatts both, and will be headed up by Leon Wiegard, the Fitzroy Football Club president and former Olympian. The group is said to be soliciting support from the pokie clubs owned by AFL clubs, which number is at 80.
