New Poker Bill Proposed

By launchpoker, Jun 9, 2007

Hot on the heels of the Internet Gambling and Regulation Enforcement Act recently introduced in the House of Representatives by Barney Frank comes a related bill, the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative. The SASIGI was introduced by Washington State Congressman Jim McDermott and proposes a 2 percent tax on poker deposits to online poker rooms. The idea, if implemented, would reportedly bring between $6 billion and $25 billion in taxes alone. The online poker rooms would be responsible for collecting and remitting the tax from poker deposits.
