The Barca Club on McMillan Ave was the setting for a raid recently when some fifty police officers stormed in with weapons drawn and demanded that everyone put their hands up in the air. Sixty three people were eventually charged with gambling offences from this and two other raids as they were caught in the act of playing poker. Winnipeg Police Sgt. Kelly Baldwin explained that poker organizers were keeping a cut of the proceeds from these games, which made them illegal. The raids and charges were the culmination of a seven month investigation called Project Kaleidoscope.
