Virginia Congressman Representative Robert W. Goodlatte, Republican, introduced a bill that, if turn into law, would ban most online gambling. While the focus is on Poker, this bill includes sports bet games and games of chance. The House Judiciary Committee is reviewing and marking up the bill.Lobbyist Jack Abramoff was one of the key players in blocking Goodlatte's three previous attempts to ban Internet gambling and now that he is embroiled in corruption scandal the legislation could get some traction. Should the bill be passed all forms of Internet gambling will feel the pinch. Even state lotteries would be unable to take their games online, since there's no way to keep them within the state boundaries once this step is made.
