Helsinki's Debt Counseling Sought by Poker Players

The number of online poker players in debt and seeking help from Helsinki's Debt Counseling Office has doubled in the last year, and the organization is on target to assist around 150 people in debt thanks to internet poker. The increase is fairly dramatic considering that the Debt Counseling Office typically helped only a handful of indebted poker players a year in the past; some of the players helped by the organization owe tens or even hundreds of thousands of euros in poker debt. Online poker in Finland is a popular pastime, with the number of poker players reaching around 200,000.
