House and Senate to Talk Poker

By launchpoker, May 22, 2008 House and Senate to Talk Poker

In the state of New Hampshire the House is looking to have a conversation with the Senate about taxes for poker games. Charities are allowed to run Texas Holdem poker games with a max bet limit of $2. In order to make the tax a viable profit vehicle the proposed tax would incorporate a bill that raises the max bet to $5. With a three percent tax on "play chip" tournaments and a ten percent tax on games where chips have a money value, the tax would bring in $3.5 million annually.
