Satellite Winner Takes Down Mirage Poker Showdown

The Mirage Poker Showdown held a number of surprises for expectant poker fans. First, Courtney Friel was notably absent and Sabina Gadecki, the latest World Poker Tour hostess was there in her place. A special ceremony was held to honor Gavin Smith, last season's Player of the Year. The final table favorite was Robert Mizrachi but he busted out in sixth place. Fifth-place finisher was Stephen Frederick, followed by David Williams and then Devon Porter. Heads-up play was between futures trader and former scientist Harry Demitriou who started off with a major chip lead over Internet qualifier Stan Weiss. It took Weiss 50 hands but eventually he managed to win the day by catching a pair on the river after going all in pre-flop with King high off suit.
