When video poker kingpin John "Duffy" Conley, 42, of Pittsburg was sentenced to prison in 1995 for a multi-million dollar, illegal video poker ring, he spent nine years repaying his debt to society behind bars. Conley was arrested again when he broke parole by placing millions of dollars of wagers on sporting events via telephone over the last year. After his February arrest the question seemed to be not would Conley spend more time in prison, but how much more time for violating his parole. Despite a defense of gambling addiction, the judge sentenced Conley to four more years in prison for the parole violation. Conley wagered nearly four million dollars over a four week span in November and December of last year.
