Venetian Poker Room Banking on TV Spots

Online poker rooms are booming and land-based poker rooms are going through overhauls with a hefty price tag, but not every poker business is a sure bet. Recently opened on April 2, the new poker room at the Venetian is the third-largest poker room in Las Vegas. Only the Bellagio and Caesars Palace have larger rooms, and the jury is still out over whether or not the Venetians is the fanciest, however the Venetians poker room is only in the ninth spot as far as market share is concerned, analysts say.Since the time the Venetian has opened their room they've only had around 4% market share compared to the Bellagio with a 20% share. Only about one in five seats in the Venetians poker room is in use at any one time. Sources at the Venetian say they are banking on a series of TV promotions in order to get the word out and bring the business end.
