Last year Swedish authorities shut down a live poker tournament, claiming it was illegal. The 2007 European Poker Challenge (EPC) was raided on the first day of play and six organizers were charged with running and advertising an illegal poker tournament. Just recently the District Court in Uddevalla cleared two of the charged, while two others got fines and the last two will get jail time of six and eight months. The online poker site, 24hPoker, was accused of advertising as players could win seats via the site, but the owner of the site was one of those cleared.
