Current legislation in the state of Maine holds down the amount of any single that in any game of the ultra popular No Limit Texas Hold 'em to one dollar. This single greenback tap makes the game a little less dramatic, and less effective for fund raising efforts. Representative John Patrick, a fan of the game, is leading legislation that would raise the limits, and hopefully raise the effectiveness of the game when it comes to charity events, one of the more popular ways the game is used. The bill, which was approved by both the Senate and the House last year, is currently in limbo, waiting on movement from the Appropriations Committee. Even anti-casino organizations are not seriously concerned about the Charity focus to build, stating their focus is on the impact of casinos and slot machines on community.
