The poker war continues in North Carolina, where the political, moral and ethical wrangling has reached from illicit back rooms stuffed with video poker machines to the halls of government. House Speaker Jim Black, along with the video poker industry, is under investigation for receiving campaign checks from low-wage store clerks for around a thousand dollars each, and new information suggests there is additional money coming from a business that may be operating against the law.
Cumberland County Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler says that the legislature should take the blame for the video poker mess, as the House has not allowed a vote to be taken which may have outlawed video poker completely, a common goal among the lawmakers in North Carolina.
