Florida Dog Track Gets Poker Room Started

The Sarasota County commissioners approved a resolution which allows poker rooms to be established at the Sarasota Kennel Club amid a field of supporters for the move. During the board discussion more than 40 individuals showed up wearing yellow shirts to show their support of the card rooms being added to the dog track's offerings.The resolution was unanimously approved by the county commissioners, who wanted to support the Sarasota City Commission and appreciated the hundred of emails they received voicing support for the card room. Mayor Freddie Atkins voted against the idea.The card room addition to the dog track was first considered two years ago, and rejected out of fear that it would attracted gambling boats, casinos and other forms of gambling to the area.
