When the average poker player thinks of a poker book, he or she is likely thinking of Super System or Ace on the River, books that are primarily instructional, although they may have anecdotal aspects. A new type of poker books is hitting the market, however, where poker play takes a backseat to plot and character development in poker fiction.Pete Hautman and his publisher Simon & Schuster are promoting his latest poker themed fiction novel, "The Prop: a Novel." In the story the protagonist, Peeky Kane, is a professional poker player who becomes embroiled in a murder mystery that involves a cash grab from an Indian casino in Arizona. This is Pete's second poker themed novel, his first entitled "No Limit" with the main character appropriately named Doyle.
