The atmosphere in Washington these days is that online poker needs to stop, and stop fast. Three bills before Congress are under review that would prevent US residents from playing poker online. An organization, called the Poker Players Alliance, attended a press conference in order to get the word out about the bills and call on Congress to reject them. Joining forces with the Poker Players Alliance are professional players Greg Raymer, Chris Ferguson, and Howard Lederer. They question why poker, which is legal in US casinos, was considered to be illegal when played online.Another reason why the players and the Alliance are against the proposed bills is that the bills would require that Internet Service Providers monitor how private citizens spend their money and time online, which they consider an invasion of privacy.
