The state of Mississippi might be considering competitive measures in order to keep up with recent poker expansion in the state of Florida, which is a matter of some concern to residents of both states. Seminole casinos in Florida have won approval from a Florida Senate committee which will allow high stakes and celebrity tournaments at race tracks, and offer gambling up to 18 hours a day. These events would be eligible for filming and broadcast, which could bring in a lot of new business - presumably drawing away from the casinos in Mississippi. There has been word that Mississippi is taking a look at what they can do to counteract this master stroke.
