When Bet and Win acquired the Ongame Network, the Australian poker company wasted no time in launching the Ongame network Poker Classic. The event is a tournament with a guaranteed prize pool that is a record breaker, weighing in at five million dollars, with at least one fifth of that going to the final first place finisher. Naturally this amount may seem small potatoes compared to the big events such as the final tournaments for the World Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker (for instance, the WSOP will have a seventy million dollar prize pool in 2006), this event is a record breaker because it is the first tournament that starts online with such a big prize pool guaranteed. When it gets down to the final 45 players in the event, they will fly to Spain for the final tournament.
