Two bodies were found in an Oakland, California home on Friday, and they have been identified as Ernest Scherer Jr., 60, and his wife, Charlene Abendroth, 57. Scherer is known in the area as a pro poker player, as is his son Ernest Scherer III, 29, of Los Angeles. Scherer and his wife were regulars at the Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, and when their daughter could not reach them by phone she asked the club to investigate. A club employee found the bodies and notified the police, who are ruling the deaths as homicide.
