Canadian Open Poker Champion Crowned

The first ever Canadian Open Poker Championship came to a close recently and the new Canadian poker champ is 23 year old James Lopushinsky. Further proving the popular fact that poker can be "anyone's game" the youngster beat out professional poker players such as local poker pro Brad Booth, who also happened to be Lopushinsky's poker mentor. Huck Seed, World Series of Poker bracelet winner and professional poker player was also in attendance, yet the win went to the guy who had only played the game for about a year and a half.Besides the bragging rights and the notoriety, the new champ will take home C$250,000 for his win. Karim Chatur won half as much for his second place finish. The winner started his poker journey when Booth hired him to build a poker table, and then to deal at Booth's club.
