The master of ceremonies for the just-completed NBC National Heads-Up nearly walked away the champion of the Jeff Gordon Foundation Poker Classic, just getting beat out by an Ace on the River. Ali Nejad was beaten by Mike Sugg, who is the first champion of the Jeff Gordon event, a charity poker tournament co-hosted by Gordon and 2003 World Series of Poker champion Chris Moneymaker.Moneymaker also played in the tournament, making it to the final table and busting out in fifth place, continuing to show his poker chops. The timing of the event nicely coincided with the Sam's Town 300 NASCAR race in Las Vegas, giving plenty of racing fans a chance to play with and mingle with racing legend Gordon. Sugg won $17,500 for his first place finish, out of a $51,000 prize pool.
