At the 2008 NBC National Heads Up Championship poker pros and celebrities butt heads to see who is the best in a head to head poker competition, and former NL Cy Young Award winner Orel Hershiser came close to proving that it was him. He knocked out eight poker players before being knocked out himself by Andy Bloch (who was in turn knocked out by Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.) Ted Forrest, Allen Cunningham and Freddy Deeb were among those eliminated by Hershiser. Ferguson, who had come in second place in two previous years' competitions, went on to win the event.
