On Sunday, February 19 a No Limit Texas Hold'em event kicked off with more than $70,000 up for grabs in Canada’s very first Women's Poker Classic. 250 women took their seats and began the grind to discover who would be the best, crowed the first Woman’s champ of Canada, and take the lion’s share of the prize pool. With a Limit Texas Hold'em game also going on and a prize pool there of $37,500, there was over $112,000 to be awarded, making poker history in Canada and bringing lots of cash to breast cancer research in British Columbia all at once.
In the end it was Clarissa Hannem of Esquimalt who snagged the top prize and the top check as well, earning herself $22,680.00 and becoming Canada's first ever Women's Poker Classic champion.
